I am the Director of the INVOLVE Coordinating Centre where I have worked since 1999. I have overall responsibility for leading and directing the Coordinating Centre and work closely with the chair of INVOLVE in developing the strategic direction of INVOLVE.  In addition to working with the INVOLVE group, my  role includes liaising with colleagues from across the NIHR and beyond to promote the development and support for public involvement in research and to influence policy and practice. I am a member of the NIHR Strategy Group.

Prior to becoming Director, I managed the Research Section of the Help for Health Trust, a health information charity based in Winchester. My background is in the social sciences and I carried out mainly qualitative, policy related research in the areas of health and social care over a period of approximately 20 years. During this time I worked for several universities, the Department of Health, the Health Education Authority and West Sussex Social Services.
