I am the Deputy Director of Knowledge and Learning for the mental health charity Rethink. My role is to oversee our research team, learning and young people’s team and the Rethink Advice and Information Service (RAIS). In all our work we involve people affected by mental health problems in different ways and we are committed to following and establishing best practice. I first became interested in consumer involvement in research while I was working at the Institute of Psychiatry on studies addressing stigma and discrimination. Current research projects include lay review work within the Cochrane Schizophrenia Partnership, methodological development on studies that adopt a co-production approach with service user researchers and a research panel of service user and carer volunteers.
