Older people’s experiences of partner bereavement This report provides a comprehensive summary of how older people’s lives change when their partner dies. Independent Age examine the impacts across four areas: loneliness and social isolation; mental and physical health; financial and practical matters; and feelings and grief. Through a multi-method research approach, including in-depth interviews with older people whose partner died, Independent Age have identied how older people are more likely to be negatively impacted than other age groups, yet less likely to receive help and support. The report also identifies recommendations for changing the current situation to ensure all older people are better served for this critical life transition.
