Description

MindTech Healthcare Technology Co-operative is a national centre focused on the development of new technology for mental healthcare. MindTech brings together patients, healthcare professionals, researchers and industry to identify unmet clinical needs and develop and test a range of new technologies. We are currently looking at technologies for dementia, mood disorders such as depression and neurodevelopmental disorders such as Tourette Syndrome and ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). However, we are interested in all aspects of mental health.

Public involvement in research

Patients, members of the public and voluntary sector organisations belong to the MindTech Reference Group. This group meets every second month to support the work of MindTech and oversee our involvement and engagement strategy.

The wider strategy includes:

  • involving people in a range of ways in individual research projects
  • patients and public members of our National Expert Panels – these panels help us validate the clinical value of new technologies
  • work to identify patient and service user priorities for technological innovation
  • and a programme of public engagement with technologies for mental health.
