Wellcome Trust Edinburgh Clinical Research Facility
Description
The Wellcome Trust Edinburgh Clinical Research Facility (CRF) provides state-of-the-art facilities to support clinical research. We are based at three clinical sites in Edinburgh: the Western General Hospital, the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and the Royal Hospital for Sick Children. Our activities include a comprehensive education programme designed to equip staff with the skills to carry out research, including public involvement.
Public involvement in research
We provide support and advice to healthcare researchers to enable them to engage the public in the design and conduct of their research. We have our own patient and public involvement group who advise us on all aspects of our work. Our activities include:
- providing information and links to resources on public involvement in research
- training for researchers and members of the public in effective public involvement in research
- matching researchers and members of the public for particular grant applications and projects
- helping researchers to communicate research findings to the public
- advising researchers on obtaining feedback from members of the public on their experience of involvement
