Title: Meeting the mental health needs of young people with learning disabilities

Aims: To understand how young people with learning disabilities experience mental health problems and how they access services to support them.

Research project description: This is a programme of research in which four projects are looking at four distinctive areas. The projects are in Scotland and England.

Disseminating research

Description of public involvement in research stages: Used as an advisory committee, developing workshops as part of the action research cycle, being used as case studies.

Training and support provided for either members of the public or researchers involved in the project:

Examples of ways the public have made a difference to the research project: Greater sensitivity to the needs of young people and their carers. Used a bottom-up approach.
