2008 Conference

Turning Point’s Centre of Excellence has been working in partnership with the lead agencies in Bolton for health, housing and social care, with the aim of improving services and making them more accessible and joined up.

This is a new approach to service delivery, called Connected Care, which is about designing health, social care and housing services that respond to the needs of the community.

We have trained 28 members of the community to carry out research, in three deprived areas in Bolton to find out the views and experiences of people living in their communities about the services they receive. We will be writing up our findings (in July 08) and will be setting up a new service based on the findings of the research.

This workshop will provide our community researchers with the opportunity to share their experiences of carrying out research in their communities. They will share what went well and any problems that they have faced. We will consider the main barriers and how we worked as a team to overcome these.

This workshop will be highly interactive. We will support the community researchers to lead a discussion about their experiences of conducting the research, with the opportunity for delegates to feed in their experiences and ask any questions.
