2012 Conference

Abstract: The poster will detail the involvement of patients and the public in the Programme Grants for Applied Research scheme. This will include:

  • PPI in the commissioning process – we will describe how members of the public are involved in the assessment of applications and how we raise awareness of the profile of PPI in the research community through our workshops for applicants where a presentation is given by one of our PPI members.
  • PPI monitoring in active awards – we will detail how PPI is monitored in our active awards currently and our future plans. We will also detail how members of the public form part of visiting parties that meet with our active research teams.

The poster will also include a case study of an active award giving examples of collaborative working and demonstrating the impact that PPI has had on their research programme.

We will raise the issues of: researching impact, how people are involved in research, learning and support.
