Abstract:
This book is a based on a series of articles that were produced by the author while completing her Ph.D. It includes a review of patient participation in decision-making, in biomedical research in the Netherlands, the barriers to their participation and a consideration of the contributions they do and could make.
The book also describes the findings from a pilot study of patients' research priorities and makes recommendations for a strategy to involve patients in an effective way.
