Title: Developing young people's involvement in mental health in primary care: towards consumer produced quality standards.

Aims: To find out from 16-25 year olds of many backgrounds why they go (or not) to primary care if they have mental health problems and to get them to develop youth friendly standards for primary care.

Research project description: A consumer will run the project by interviewing and running groups of young people from various ethnic groups and recruiting from them a youth expert panel to develop standards and a needs assessment tool.

Description of public involvement in research stages: A consumer will run the whole project co-supervised by a consumer research group.

Examples of ways the public have made a difference to the research project: Young consumers trained as co- facilitators. Young consumers are going to be developing standards for primary care General Practitioners. Consumers training and assessing general practitioners surgeries.
